UJ make it three out of three |
|
September 9 - One, two, three, UJ is a champion club.
One belonged to the University of Johannesburg at Wits on Thursday evening when they beat Raiders 29-6 in the final of the Predator league. Two also belonged to UJ when the Rautels beat the Ibbies 25-23 and three was also orange when their Thirds beat Tau 26-17.
In a tough final UJ never completely overshadowed Raiders, who fought manly and kept the score low with the teams going into half time with UJ only leading by 8-3. While it moved up to 15-3 it was all still even Steven but a brilliant try by UJ winger Lolo Waka clinched the game for the Students.
It was a momentous occasion for the club from Longdale as they played in their first ever final in the top league at the Lions, managing to reach the semi final on two occasions in the past.
Among the juniors Pukke and Impala had the last say as their Under 21's and Under 19's walked away with top honours, Impala beating Pukke (Under 21) and Pukke's Under 19's beating UJ.
