February 5 – FNB Wits play their third match in exactly a week when they meet the University of Western Cape in a Varsity Shield match on Monday night.
Wits, judging by their display against Fort Hare on Thursday when they won 58-16 and also being at home at Wits Stadium, are probably the favourites. However, three matches in sevens day could take its toll and could conceivably be an important leveller.
Not that UWC are walk-overs. Everything but. They also had it much their own way against Fort Hare, winning 36-13. There is therefore no place for complacency in a match where Wits coach Andy Royle is resting some of his players after their first two matches in four days. They will be led by flanker Devin Montgomery as Katlego Ntsie gets a break on the bench.
UWC coach Oliver Jansen has not tampered too much with his team from last week's one game and will again be looking to speedster Cheslyn Roberts - a hat-trick hero against Fort Hare - to work his magic.
The teams for the 7pm kick-off are:
