March 9 - Pirates again totally dominated their opposition in the Assupol Super 16 competition when they beat Vaal Reefs 45-6 at Greenside on Saturday.
The website suparugby.com reports that Pirates have scored three run-away victories in the pool round to set up a semi-final this coming weekend.
Pirates scored 146 points in their three matches against Springs (60-7), Naka Bulls (41-19) en Vaal Reefs (45-6) and conceded only 32 for an average winning score of 48-10.
New lock Nqubeko Zulu and inside centre Warren Steyn shared the Man of the Match award on Saturday.
Fullback Willem Slabbert scored 20 points, including two tries. Winger André van der Merwe also dotted down twice and Willem van der Wal could have also scored a brace, but knocked-on with the try-line at his mercy.
