Garvz Sports Academy launched their Lions Kidz programme in 2009, and has been growing at a rapid pace since their introduction.

The children who are a part of the Academy have enjoyed the experience and training offered by the Academy. They have particularly enjoyed being able to form a tunnel on the field at Coca-Cola Park when the Lions team runs out to face their opposition and to give the teams’ a Powerade after their matches.

Garvz Sports Academy offers boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 9 a unique sports experience which concentrates on skills and fitness, safety in sport and acquiring knowledge in a non contact environment. Add to this the fun the children are enjoying at the Academy, and Adrian Garvey has come up with a winning formula for young aspiring sports stars.

Garvey is a current shareholder of the Sharks Academy and is a former Zimbabwe, Springbok and Sharks rugby player. With his vast knowledge of the game of rugby – both on and off the field – he is driving the development of skills and fitness for young Lions fans through the Academy.

Children who would like to join the Academy will receive the following benefits:

• Weekly one hour training sessions for 10 months. These training sessions continue during the school holidays and comprise of warm up sessions, skills training focusing on eye-hand co-ordination and exercise drills to improve fitness.

• Possible match day experiences at Coca-Cola Park.
