The U/19 Xerox Lions will be playing the U/19 Vodacom Free State Cheetahs in the final of the 2009 U/19 Absa Currie Cup on Saturday, 31 October 2009 at Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria. The game will kick off at 12:00.
Coach, Wynand Moolman, is extremely proud of the team for making it to the semi finals. “It will not be an easy match, and we are not over confident for the match. The Cheetahs have a very strong side, and we respect their style of playing.
“We have been training extremely hard, and I have faith in the boys that they will make the Union and themselves incredibly proud, not matter what the outcome is”. Moolman said.
Many of the players are already becoming household names, despite being in the U/19 age group. Big things are expected from many of the players in the future, and especially players such as Wandile Mjekevu, Chuma Faas, Ashley Kohler and Jaco Taute, who made his professional debut for the Xerox Lions professional team in a recent Absa Currie Cup match.
