Both MTN Golden Lions junior sides now third after big wins

September 4 - Two welcome results by other sides, added to the MTN Golden Lions’ two big wins over the weekend, contributed to both the Lions Under-21s and Under-19s occupying the third log position in their respective Absa age-group competitions.

The Under-21 side beat the Valke 45-20 in an away match - and just as importantly for the Lions, the Sharks were beaten by the Blue Bulls. That saw the Lions leapfrog the Natalians .

In the Under-19 competition the Lions ran away with SWD in their match in George. The score was 41-0. That saw them retain third place - but now with a seven-point lead over fourth-placed Leopards after the latter’s one-point win over the Free State. A Free State win would have seen a much tighter log.

The Blue Bulls and Western Province are the first two sides in both the competitions.
