Florida pip Monnas in tough Nu Power match

May 10 - Hoërskool Florida qualified for the Nu Power semi-finals with a close victory over Beeld trophy champions Monument last weekend. The score was 22-20.

 

Florida will come up against Waterkloof in the final after a 72-13 win by the Pretoria side over Marais Viljoen in the other semi-final.

Monument’s other teams all qualified for the finals of the Nu Power Series with the Under-14s, Under-15s and Under-16s all winning their respective semi-final matches against Waterkloof (22—6), Waterkloof (32-18) and HTS Middelburg (12-6) respectively.

** KES retained their unbeaten record when they beat Maritzburg College, at that stage KwaZulu-Natal’s highest ranked team 28-20, while the clash between St John’s and St Stithians ended in a resounding 30-6 win for Saints.

** In the play-off for third and fourth places in the PUK Super 16 Series Bekker edged Volksrust 19-18.

** In Beeld Trophy (Large Schools) matches Roodepoort beat Riebeeckrand 18-5 while Alberton overran Bastion 28-0. Dinamika and Helpmekaar drew 18-all.

Monument 20 - 22 Florida; Marias Viljoen 13 - 72 Waterkloof.

Monnas’ U-14s, U-15s and U-16s all qualified for the NU Power finals.
