Profile Paragraph: Van der Linde began his professional career in 1999 representing South Africa U19s. He spent the majority of his career (from 2000 – 2007) with the Cheetahs where he was a made a name for himself as one of the best props in South Africa. In 2008 Van der Linde moved to Ireland where he represented Leinster for three years. He then returned to the Cheetahs in 2010 before signing with the Stormers for the 2011 Super Rugby competition. Van der Linde signed with the Lions ahead of the 2011 Currie Cup competition and played three games for the team. His absence in the start of the competition was due to him being in New Zealand representing South Africa in the Rugby World Cup. Van der Linde was a member of the 2007 winning World Cup team. He brings a wealth of experience to the Lions and is greatly admired by the younger players.
