February 28 - Pirates again showed impressive form as they convincingly beat Naka Bulls 39-19 in their Assupol Super 16 encounter in Pretoria on Saturday following on their good win over Springs last weekend.
It was Pirates’ first win in three tries in this competition over the Naka Bulls,. This has virtually assured that Pirates will advance to the semifinals.
Pirates play Vaal Reefs this weekend in their last pool match - and even if they lose, should advance by virtue of a substantially bigger points differential after accounting for Springs 65-7 last weekend.
Springs beat Vaal Reefs 33-14 on Saturday.
A little perturbing for Pirates would be the fact that their juniors were again beaten (20-8) and that their thirds also lost (21-12) to the Naka Bulls.
Pretoria Police beat a poor Potch Dorp 35-0, with the North West side not scoring a single point in four matches while conceding 235 points.
Ferro’s won 85-43 against Klerksdorp after beating Valke’s Benoni 35-28 last week, and will test Centurion next weekend to decide the semifinalist from their pool.
