The third edition is already planned in the south of France in april next year.
Over and above the very high level rugby matches taking place, this tournament will also offer new initiatives off the rugby field, which will see the French teams spending their week between their rugby obligations and forming partnerships with local institutions. These partnerships aim to provide a platform for the development and emergence of new South African talent among players from disadvantaged communities.
Thanks to the first tournament held last year, the first-ever international rugby match was played in Soweto. Furthermore, due to the tournament, a historic partnership was entered into between the Comite Languedoc and the Soweto Rugby Club, thus enabling the clubs to pool their selection methods and to encourage the emergence of a new generation of talented players benefiting from the know-how of both hemispheres.
The success of this first tournament could thus be measured both in sporting and extra-sporting terms. In fact, the French teams established preferential ties with the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund and the Winnie Ngwekazi School in Soweto.
The 2010 T2H has three main objectives:
1. Strengthen the ties between the French and the South African teams. 2. Promote the values of rugby to unite players from different cultures and social backgrounds, and use rugby as a platform to introduce educational, teaching, sporting and human initiatives. 3. Set the stage for the long-term by laying the foundation for dynamic and durable partnerships.
The French School would like to thank their sponsors for their assistance in organizing the event. Eight large international corporations lent their support to put together the tournament, and a big thank you is extended to Accor Hospitality, GIG, Nestle Professional, Pernod-Ricard, Renault, Silobag, Michelin and Sodexo.
