Wikus starts for the Xerox Lions against The Sharks

September 23 - Former captain and Springbok Wikus van Heerden will start for the Xerox Lions in the very important match against the Sharks at Coca-Cola Park on Saturday. Van Heerden comes in for Warren Whiteley who is injured, with Josh Strauss moving from flank to No 8 in place of Whiteley and Van Heerden slotting in at No 7.

Trevor Hall takes the place of Van Heerden on the bench, where locks Johan Snyman and David Bulbring are still bracketed as is the case with the three quarter replacement, Marius Delport and Deon van Rensburg.

The inclusion of Van Heerden brings a lot of experience and also hardness to the team. Van Heerden had a good run as replacement against the Blue Bulls last weekend when Whiteley went off, and even after a lengthy lay-off his commitment and work-rate impressed in a very tough encounter.

The team is:
Jaco Taute; Jannie Boshoff, Waylon Murray, Doppies la Grange, Michael Killian; Elton Jantjies, Jano Vermaak; Josh Strauss, Wikus van Heerden, Derick Minnie, Franco van der Merwe (capt.), George Earle, Ross Geldenhuys, Martin Bezuidenhout, JC Janse van Rensburg. Replacements: Edgar Marutlulle, Wayne Swart, Johan Snyman/David Bulbring, Trevor Hall, JP Joubert, Burton Francis, Marius Delport/Deon van Rensburg.

**  Sharks coach John Plumtree has been able to name an unchanged line-up for the first time this season, retaining his entire match-day 22 from their win over the Cheetahs last weekend for this  Saturday's Absa Currie Cup match against the Lions at Coca-Cola Park.

Sharks team: 15 Louis Ludik, 14 Odwa Ndungane, 13 Stefan Terblanche (capt), 12 Andries Strauss, 11 Lwazi Mvovo, 10 Patrick  Lambie, 9 Charl McLeod, 8 Ryan Kankowski, 7 Willem Alberts, 6 Keegan Daniel, 5 Alistair Hargreaves, 4 Steven Sykes, 3 Eugene van Staden, 2 Craig Burden, 1 Patric Cilliers. Replacements: 16 Kyle Cooper, 17 Wiehahn Herbst, 18 Michael Rhodes, 19 Jacques Botes, 20 Rory Kockott, 21 Andre Pretorius, 22 Riaan  Swanepoel..

I dont think he was the reason you lost cause that penalty against him was a very bad decision...and you even scored in that 10minutes....think the tactical play was a bit off but the lions are playing gr8 rugby and improving every week...
