Two starting changes for Xerox Lions against Pumas |
October 5 - Although the Xerox Lions are out of contention for a play-off berth in the Absa Currie Cup competition barring some unlikely results in other matches, coach John Mitchell has persevered with his policy of continuity for Friday night’s match against the Pumas at Coca-Cola Park.
There are only two certain changes to the team. Trevor Hall will partner captain Franco van der Merwe at lock because of the unavailability of George Earl who was concussed last weekend; and Warren Whiteley comes back to start with Wikus van Heerden moving to the bench.
Whiteley will be No 8 with Josh Strauss moving to flank in Van Heerden’s place.
Doppies la Grange, who has a hamstring strain, has been bracketed at inside centre with Burton Francis. Should Francis play, wing Wandile Mjekevu will come back into the 22-man squad as a replacement after a long-term injury.
The team is:
15 Michael Killian, 14 Jannie Boshoff, 13 Waylon Murray,12 Doppies La Grange/Burton Francis, 11 Deon van Rensburg, 10 Elton Jantjies, 9 Jano Vermaak, 8 Warren Whiteley, 7 Joshua Strauss, 6 Derick Minnie, 5 Franco van der Merwe (capt.), 4 Trevor Hall, 3 Ross Geldenhuys, 2 Martin Bezuidenhout, 1 JC Janse van Rensburg. Replacements: 16 Edgar Marutlulle, 17 Wayne Swart, 18 Johan Snyman, 19 Wikus van Heerden, 20 JP Joubert, 21 Burton Francis/Marius Delport, 22 Marius Delport/Wandile Mjekevu. |
