Legendary former Transvaal and Springbok wing Syd Nomis who had his left leg amputated in Zurich, Switzerland on September 26, has been discharged from hospital.
Nomis (69), who played in 25 successive Tests for the Boks from 1966-1971 and in 54 matches for Transvaal between 1963-1974, left for Switzerland early in September to visit his son Gary and his family. He contracted pneumonia as well as blood clots in his left leg and has been battling the trauma of losing a leg and severe pneumonia after the amputation above the knee.
The GLRU and all fans are thrilled to hear that Syd is now out of the hospital and look forward to seeing him when he returns to South Africa.. |
