Greetings fellow Lions Supporters
When the New Year’s greetings start fading, it’s a sign that we are well into the year. 2010 is almost 2 months old and the first round of Super 14 games are behind us. Not only do we have an action packed season ahead of us, but for the first time, the Lions have an official supporters club which is being run by the supporters. The club was established at the end of the 2009 season, and is the only official Lions Supporters Club sanctioned by the GLRU. The committee members are Jeanita Sayers who is chairperson, Ethienne Julian and Geo Swart. The future needs and workload will determine whether more members will be added to the existing group.
The present seasons club activities are still on the drawing board and the program will be published and distributed as soon as it has been completed and approved by all the parties concerned.
The management of the club will be undertaken by the committee members, but will be consulting with the union on most issues, reasons being that they (the Union) manage the players, merchandise and stadium.
A constitution is currently being drawn up by the GLRU legal team which will be the cornerstone of the club. This will also be a non profit organization and all excess funds will be utilized for subsidization of functions and away game trips.
All members must register at www.lionsrugby.co.za and the subscription is R250 per season per member.

- A regular news letter
Over and above the abovementioned benefits, an exclusive supporter’s club pub will be opened at Coca Cola Park – member’s access only. The team is currently working on a Lions Supporters Jacket, which will also be part of the R250 package. Shirts and caps have been proposed and should be finalized before the end of February.
Future news letters will be distributed to all members at regular intervals and be published on the official website.
