October 5 - The Golden Lions Rugby Union announced this morning that they will be working in conjunction with the Endangered Wildlife Trust during 2012.
On Saturday, 8 October 2011, the GLRU will officially welcome the EWT to Coca-Cola Park where they will have two stands set up in the MTN Supporters Arena as well as in front of the Coca-Cola Park Team Store.
One of the projects the EWT is currently underway with is the sale of bracelets to raise funds for rhino conservation.
“This is not just a bracelet, it’s a lifeline. The proceeds for each bracelet not only go towards fighting rhino poaching, but also creating employment. R8 from the sale of each bracelet goes to the Rhino Force Trust to be used in anti-poaching activities. Proceeds also go to the men and women who created these bracelets; many of whom are currently looking after children orphaned by Aids.
“93.4% of all African rhinos are in South Africa; with your help we can mobilize to protect our heritage. Rhino Force in union with other determined corporations is leading the fight against the plague of poaching. This is one war we can’t afford to lose.
“There are more poaches than rhinos left in the world”, the bracelet packaging says.
These bracelets cost just R30 each and will be available for purchase at Coca-Cola Park. |
