National Recruitment and Awareness Campaign

The Golden Lions Rugby Union’s Referees Department will be hosting a national recruitment and awareness campaign on Tuesday, 9 March 2010. Andre Watson, manager of referees for SA Rugby will be on hand to talk about the background of the programme and the need for additional referees. He will also be discussing the how the Academy, Contender, Provincial and National panel systems work.

Theuns Naude and Michael Cupido of the GLRU will discuss how a typical provincial referee society works, and Rasta Ravishenge will discuss his progression through the Academy and Contender squad system to now become a member of the Provincial Panel.

The programme is as follows:

6pm A fitness session at Johannesburg Stadium athletics track
6:30pm Discussion on the Big Four Laws will be held in the board room

SABC will be filming the evenings events.
