The Golden Lions Rugby Referees’ Society is under tremendous strain due to decreasing referee numbers. Incidents of Referee Abuse (Verbally and /or physically) are the main contributors.
The members of the GLRU Referees Society are a voluntary core of people, who do it for the love of the game and for no payment (other than travel expenses) and at the cost of having to take unpaid or paid leave and being away from their families.
In the past month we have had referees suffering both verbal and physical abuse, and will no longer tolerate this behaviour. Below are a number of recent alleged incidents where referees were
The Golden Lions Rugby Referees’ Society reserves the right to supply services to schools and clubs and will not provide referees to schools and clubs unless we are assured of referee welfare and safety.
The GLRU request that spectators report poor refereeing standard to our office by means of written reports accompanied with video evidence (where possible). This will be dealt with and a reply will be sent to the writer of the report. |
