  • Signed rugby ball from the 1906 Springbok rugby team led by Paul Roos
  • Frik du Preez’s personal collection

The creation of this museum was a joint venture between the Golden Lions Rugby Union and the Swys Joubert – a former Lions, Western Province and Blue Bulls rugby player.

On Tuesday 1 October 2013 the Ellis Park Rugby Museum was officially opened by Swys Joubert and his family and we owe our thanks to him for generously making his impressive collection available to everyone who loves rugby.

Then there's no better way to spend a couple of hours than exploring the state-of-the-art Ellis Park Rugby Museum. Boasting possibly the biggest single collection of rugby memorabilia in South Africa, if not the world, this is a museum for the true sports fanatic.

Discover 100 years of rugby

As you wander the aisles, you'll quickly see how the game has evolved. Artifacts include provincial and international jerseys, team blazers, signed match balls, caps and boots, flags, original artworks, photographs, and much more.

But most importantly, it's not just limited to Springbok and provincial level rugby! You will also see rare international rugby artifacts from New Zealand, Australia, Ireland and France, to name just a few countries of rugby fame.
